Coastal Connections provides exhilarating, educational and captivating
eco-tour and learning programs for individuals, families, students, tour
groups, . pretty much anyone!

Deeply rooted in research, scientific support and environmental awareness,
and presented in a fun hands-on manner, Coastal Connections offers a wide
variety of nature tours and educational programs, which change depending on
the season and your interests. Experience and explore the awesome natural
elements of both Newman Sound (Terra Nova) and Smith Sound (Random Island).

It is the aim of Coastal Connections to awaken and deepen your interest and
wonder in the natural environment, and to share in our understanding. After
taking part in one of our adventures, you will walk away with a new found
respect and love for the unique nature of our coastal eco-system, and the
connection between land, sea, sky and you!
From June to October, Coastal Connections will be offering daily tours in
Terra Nova National Park. Advance reservations are recommended.
Your tour could include:
More than just a boat tour....you will learn about this magnificent place,
participate in hands-on activities, and view the wonders of our natural
environment...in the sky, on the land, and particularly, in the sea.
Coastal Connections delivers a captivating experience that can include
hauling crab or lobster pots (in season); squid dissections; plankton tows;
water chemistry tests and much more.
- Participate in captivating scientific research
- Use scientific equipment and fishing gear to collect samples used for long-term monitoring and other science-based initiatives.
- Observe land and sea wildlife in its natural habitat- which on different days and in different conditions might include eagles, osprey, otters, seals, dolphins or whales.
- Handle specimens on-board.
- Learn about coastal navigation
- Enjoy the natural beauty of the region.
Our friendly staff is eager to share their wealth of knowledge with our
guests. Through the course of the tours, we discuss some of the issues
facing our fisheries and our marine environments as a whole. As well we look
at the various science and research-based programs being undertaken to help
better understand and address the critical issues being faced, and how
together we can help preserve our coastal eco-system.
Make sure you set aside plenty of time to explore the Park's Visitor Centre
